Lady Cats looking for first win against Lindale
From Staff Reports

Oct. 2, 2006 - PARIS - If the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats play with the same focus they had on Friday, head coach Christi Funk believes they can start picking up some district victories.

They'll get the chance again tomorrow.

The Lady Cats lost in three games to district-leading North Lamar, 25-15, 25-18, 25-15, on Friday. They travel to Lindale on Tuesday in the final match of the first round of district.

"On Friday, we probably played the best as a team so far," Funk said. "Team unity, talking on the floor - it was a concerted effort on the floor. If we'll just reduce the number of errors, then we should be seeing some wins.

"North Lamar was very fundamentally sound. They had a lot of errors, too, though. If we could have reduced the number of our errors, we were right there with them as far as skill-wise."

If the Lady Cats (0-4 in District 11-4A, 8-18 overall) are to make a push in thedistrict standings, they will need to start soon.

"The second round of district gives us a second chance," Funk said.

Following the Lindale contest, the Lady Cats will open the second round of district on Friday at Texas High.
