|From Staff Reports|
Nov. 14, 2006 - MOUNT PLEASANT - Dustin Gideon tied for the individual lead last week at Mount Pleasant's fall golf tournament, and three other SSHS golfers shot in the 80s.
Gideon, a senior, carded a 74 which tied him with three other golfers for the tournament lead. However, he finished fourth in the playoff.
Freshman Adam Perry shot an 85, while Robby Moore and Cort Walker both carded 88s and Hesston Taylor finished with a 100.
"Dustin Gideon played an outstanding round all day," said SSHS head coach Doug Evans. "If he could have gotten a few of the putts to drop that actually hit the edge of the hole, he could have shot under 70.
"The rest of the team continues to gain valuable varsity experience."
Gideon, a three-time regional qualifier, is the only full-time varsity player back from last season.
Overall, the Wildcats shot a 335, which was sixth out of seven teams. Atlanta won the tournament with a 302. Other district teams competing included North Lamar with a 315, Paris with a 331 and Mount Pleasant with a 333.
In the JV division, the Wildcats came away with 439, which was fifth out of eight teams.
