Cooper ends season with loss to Chisum

Nov. 4, 2006 - COOPER - The Cooper Bulldogs wrapped up the season on the wrong end of the scoreboard with a 41-14 loss to the Chisum Mustangs Friday night.

Under first-year coach Kris Boyd, Cooperfinished the season 2-8 overall and 1-5 in District 15-2A play. Cooper has a district bye next week.

Chisum jumped out to a 21-0 lead before Cooper got on the scoreboard. With 37 seconds remaining in the first half, Cooper's Cornelius Anderson found Wade Thompson for a 54-yard scoring pass and Travis Williams booted the PAT good.

Cooper scored its final touchdown of the game on a 5-yard run by Garrett McGraw, and Williiams kicked the PAT good for the 41- 14 final.

Chisum scored on run of 4, 1 and 55 yards and had an interception return for a touchdown and two passing touchdowns.

Ron Morris led the way for Cooper with 22 yards on 16 carries and McGraw had 23 yards on six carries. Anderson was 1-for-3 for 54 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while McGraw was 6-of-10 for 53 yards and one interception in the passing department.

Defensively, Sean Witherspoon had an interception.

Cooper had 160 yards of offense, compared to 316 yards for Chisum.
