Lady Cats ends season with rain out against Texas High
From Staff Reports

March 20, 2006 - The final girls soccer game of the season between Sulphur Springs and Texas High, postponed from Saturday due to lightning, has been canceled.

The game was re-scheduled for tonight, but because North Lamar beat Pleasant Grove on Saturday, 2-0, to clinch third place in District 13-4A, it was not necessary to play the game.

The Lady Cats finished the season with a 9-13-3 overall record, 4-5 in district.

Paris won the district with a 9-0 record pending the outcome of its game with Mount Pleasant, while Texas High (6-3) was second. North Lamar (5-4-0-1) claimed third, with SSHS fourth.

The SSHS boys (21-3, overall, 12-0-0-1 in district) will play their final regular season game tonight at Paris, with the JV starting at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity to begin at 7:15.

With a win over Paris or a Mount Pleasant loss, the Wildcats will clinch the district title and earn a first-round bye. Mount Pleasant is assured of being no worse than the second-place team, while Paris has clinched third.

The Wildcats have won more games in school history than any other team, and forward Chris Rodgers set an SSHS scoring mark on Friday with 29 goals.
