Yantis makes changes in coaching staff

July 11, 2006 - Changes are coming to the Yantis ISD coaching staff for 2006-07.

Larry Tucker has been named the athletic director and head coach for boys varsity basketball and baseball. He has been the head baseball coach for four years. After a winless first season in 2003, the Owls made the playoffs in 2005 and just missed the playoffs this year in baseball.  

He will also coach junior high baseball in the fall. This will be Tucker's fifth year at Yantis. He has previously served as junior varsity basketball and varsity basketball assistant.

Lane Loyd will be moving in from Booneville, Ark., to take over the varsity girls basketball program. Loyd will also coach cross country and be the head track coach.

Loyd comes to Yantis with 15 years of coaching experience. He has coached at Avinger, Mount Pleasant, McLeod, Spring Hill and Baird. He is the son of legendary Avinger basketball coach Ken Loyd.

Dana Gilliland will be the head volleyball coach. She has assisted in the program for three years.

Coach Harold Gilbreath takes over the entire junior high program for Yantis. Gilbreath will be in his seventh year at Yantis.
