July 8, 2006 - In the next month, one of the premiere golf courses in East Texas could have a new owner.

The Links at Land's End, an 18-hole course in Yantis set on the shores of Lake Fork, will be up for sale at auction on Aug. 10 at the Omni Park West Hotel on LBJ Freeway in Dallas.

The course, owned by Joe Munch of Yantis and Billy Walters of Las Vegas, opened in 2001. Included in the sale with be 14 remaining lots in the Villas at Land's End, which is the last phase of the project to be developed.

The sale of the course is being brokered by Hilda W. Allen Real Estate in Adel, Ga., in conjunction with Hudson and Marshall Auction Co.

"The owners have the right to accept or reject any or all bids," Ms. Allen said on Thursday. "But, I believe we'll have a deal because Mr. Munch and Mr. Walters are interested in selling the property.

"Mr. Munch has so many other business ventures going on that he needs to focus on, and selling the course at auction is the cheapest, fastest and easiest way to do it."

Included in the 175-acre project that will be up for sale are the 18-hole golf course, ranked No. 3 in the state among mid-priced courses by the Dallas Morning News, 14 villa lots, two spec houses, a restaurant and swimming pool.

The clubhouse itself is 6,000-square feet that houses a pro shop, restaurant and offices with a 4,200-square foot basement for storage.

Ms. Allen said her company has mailed out 40-45 information packages to prospective buyers and representatives will be on-site beginning at 10 a.m. July 12 and 13 to show the property.

"We expect four or five serious buyers to show up," she explained.

Her real estate company specializes in selling golf courses, and they have moved over 200 since 1991. Interested buyers can contact Ms. Allen at 1-888-324-5020.

The course was voted "Best Outlying Dallas Golf Course" by Avid Golfer magazine for the last three years. Designed by George Williams, it is 6,100-yards long from the membership tees,  and winds around a Lake Fork peninsula.

The course consists of 175 Acres of which 52 acres are fee simple and 123 acres are leased.
