Area Basketball: North Hopkins defeats Campbell; Yantis falls to Dodd City

Jan. 14, 2006 - The North Hopkins girls (14-9, 2-0 in District 19-A, Div. 1) took care of Campbell Friday night, while Yantis lost to Dodd City in a non-district area basketball contest.


GIRLS

North Hopkins 58, Campbell 31

BIRTHRIGHT - North Hopkins junior Ebbonye Johnson scored a career-high 21 points to go with six rebounds and five assists, and teammate Katy Williams had another double-double with 13 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and one steal.

Sophomore Jessi Mannis pitched in 15 points, grabbed four rebounds and had five steals for North Hopkins.

Campbell was led by Jessica Barker with 11 points.

Dodd City 42, Yantis 39

YANTIS - The Yantis Lady Owls battled back in the second half after heading into the locker room down 28-9 against Dodd City.

"It was a game of two halves tonight," said Yantis coach Randy Phillips. "They outplayed us in the first half, and we outplayed them the second half. 

Sarah Collins led Yantis (13-7, 1-2 in District 20-A, Div. II) with 14 points, three rebounds, three steals and three assists, and teammates Jamie Snider and Jayna Bevill had eight points each.

Dodd City was led by Jordan Parker with 20 points.
