Como-Pickton ends season with losses to Grand Saline and Quitman

Feb. 15, 2006 - GRAND SALINE - The Como-Pickton Eagles held a third-quarter lead, but Grand Saline edged them in the final period to take a 42-40 victory last Friday night.

Clayton Humphrey led the Eagles with 13 points, seven rebounds, three steals and four assists, while Bo Baxter added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Como-Pickton had a 23-21 halftime lead and a 43-41 advantage after three periods.

"Brian Hicks and Reese Caddell played great defense, and the whole team played a good, disciplined offensive game," said CP head coach Randy Fewell, who also credited Jensen Mabe for his defensive effort.

Hicks finished with four points, three rebounds and a steal, Caddell had six points and two steals, and Mabe ended with two points and five boards.

Quitman 57, Como-Pickton 42

COMO - In the season finale for both teams, the Como-Pickton Eagles were up-ended by the Quitman Bulldogs Tuesday night.

Bo Baxter led the Eagles with 18 points, five rebounds and two steals and Clayton Humphrey added 11 points, two rebounds and two steals.

Coach Randy Fewell praised the play of Micah Walden and Brian Hicks on defense.

The Eagles finished the season at 10-20 overall.
