Lady Cats lose to Mount Pleasant
From Staff Reports

April 10, 2006 - MOUNT PLEASANT - Mount Pleasant pitcher Laura Rawlings wasn't perfect Friday night, but she wasn't for from it.

Rawlings took a perfect game into the sixth inning against the Lady Cats, but SSHS sophomore Marci Womack spoiled it with a single.

That wasn't enough to save the Lady Cats, though, who lost, 3-0.

Mount Pleasant scored all three runs in the first inning, then held SSHS without a base runner until the sixth.

With the win, Mount Pleasant (18-8 overall, 6-1 in District 12-4A) wrapped up a playoff berth. The Lady Tigers trail Texas High (7-0) by one game and are three games ahead of Paris and North Lamar (each 3-4) with three games to play.

The loss dropped Sulphur Springs into fifth place at 8-12-1 overall, 2-5 in district. The Lady Cats can still make the playoffs, though they will likely have to win the rest of their games. They host Greenville (4-14-1, 0-7) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, and then travel to state-ranked Texas High on Thursday.
