Sept. 17, 2005 - If Colby Mills keeps this up, he will have himself a record.

Mills, who has intercepted four passes the last two games, is on pace to match the single-season interception total of 10 set by Roderick Mosley in 1994.

The junior free safety has four picks in four games this season. The Wildcats have scored touchdowns following three of the interceptions.

He may not have much of a chance next week to add to his total. Through the first three games, Lancaster (next Friday's opponent) has thrown the ball just 15 times.

Fewer Flags - After getting flagged 14 times last week at Mesquite, the Wildcats were hit with just three penalties, though two of them were for personal fouls. Both the Wildcats and White were penalized for making contact with the center on an extra point attempt. White took the penalty and successfully went for a two-point conversion, while the Wildcats had the penalty assessed on the kickoff. ... W.T. White was hit for 10 penalties worth 88 yards. ... Wildcat punter Spenser Daniel booted a 61-yarder in the second quarter, which ties him for seventh-longest in school history. The longest is Jarrod Franklin's 1995 kick of 75 yards. ... Daniel had a 43-yard field goal attempt in the third quarter go wide left.

Tovar to Tovar - WTW quarterback Juan Tovar completed a pass to himself in the first quarter. He rolled right and threw a pass, but it was deflected by SSHS defensive end Demarcus Johnson right back to Tovar, who caught it but was promptly tackled by Adarius Miles for a 3-yard loss. ... With eight catches for 122 yards, Sulphur Springs receiver Josh Riley now has caught 38 passes for 457 yards and five touchdowns. School records are 72 catches, 1,010 yards and nine touchdowns - he is on pace to break all three records.

Tackle This - Chris Person caught one pass for 22 yards, and what a play it was. On third-and-16 from the 42-yard line, Person caught a screen on the right side, then zigged his way back across the middle where he ran flat over a WTW defender five yards from the first down marker, then kept going for the first. ... SSHS cornerback Ivan Beard had two pass deflections.
