Trojans improve to 2-0 with win over Rockwall Christian

Sept. 3, 2005 - CUMBY - The Cumby Trojans needed overtime against the Rockwall Christian Warriors to notch win No. 2 on the season, 12-6, Friday night at Trojan Field.

The Trojans travel to Maud next Friday night with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Rockwall scored in the first quarter when Sam Revell went 5 yards to paydirt for the early 6-0 lead. The PAT was blocked by Cumby.

Cumby tied the game in the fourth quarter as Steven Boss scored on a 42-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Jake Petty to tie the game at 6-6, but the PAT was missed to send the game into overtime.

During the overtime session, sophomore running back B.T. Brown scored his fourth touchdown of the young season and the defense held on for the 12-6 win.

Brown led the way with 15 totes for 91 yards and one touchdown, and Petty went 8-for-23 for 168 yards and one touchdown.

Josh Petty was the leading receiver for Cumby with two catches for 63 yards and Boss had one catch for 42 yards.

For Rockwall Christian (0-2), quarterback Braden Frazier went 7-of-18 for 74 yards and two interceptions, as Clayton Jones was the leading receiver with two catches for 36 yards. 

Revell rushed for 61 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown for the Warriors.
