MOUNT PLEASANT - Chapel Hill, ranked 18th in the state, outscored Como-Pickton, 17-9, in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Lady Eagles.

Chapel Hill held a 31-29 lead after three periods.

Freshman post Maci Kight led the Lady Eagles with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Kaycee Thomas and Katie Moss added five points apiece. Thomas, Rebecca Humphries and Ashley Mowat each contributed four rebounds, while Humphries and Mowat also added three steals.

"Tonight's game was the best effort we have had," said C-P head coach Devin Gabbard. "Our underclassmen step up and filled their roles and played to their potential. We played most of the second half with only one junior or senior because of injuries.

"To play as well as we did against a ranked team tells you a lot about how far we have come. Every player played key minutes."
