SSHS freshman and junior varsity squads advance in tournament

Dec. 2, 2005 - The Sulphur Springs freshman and junior varsity squads opened up the Sulphur Springs tournament with wins Thursday night at Wildcat Gym.

The freshman will return to the court today to take on the Greenville Tigers at 4 p.m., while the junior varsity takes on Greenville at 7:45 tonight in the winner's bracket.


Sulphur Springs 53, MP Chapel Hill 23

The Wildcats jumped out to a 21-0 lead over Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill and took a 31-10 lead into the locker-room.

Ten Wildcats scored in the game and were led by DeQualin Evans with 14 points, Tyrick Rollison with 10 and Dee Harrison with seven points.

Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill was led by Chane with eight points and Copeland and Schneider with four points each.

The remainder of the tournament schedule has Paris and Mount Pleasant in the winners bracket at 6:45 p.m. and Chapel Hill plays Van, while Wills Point battles North Lamar in the consolation bracket.

Sulphur Springs 49, MP Chapel Hill 43

The Wildcat freshman team improved to 2-2 on the season with a win over Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill in the opening round.

Sulphur Springs had a game-high 21 points from Jace Jackson and 13 points from Rashad Hall.

Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill had 14 points from Kevin Sutton and nine points each from Graham McAuley and Joseph Linsinein.

The remainder of the tournament bracket has Mount Pleasant against Paris in the championship bracket, while Chapel Hill takes on Van and Wills Point battles North Lamar.
