NH Lady Panthers need five games to upend Avery

Aug. 16, 2005 - AVERY - it wasn't easy, but the North Hopkins Lady Panthers ran their record to 2-0 on Saturday with a five-game victory over Avery.

The Lady Panthers fell behind two games to none in the best-of-five series, but came back to dominate the final three games. The scores were 22-25, 25-27, 25-10, 25-17, 15-8.

"It took us a while to get warmed up, but once we did, we were able to control the match," said NH head coach Danna Lewis. "It was a team effort with kills coming from everyone on the floor. I was pleased with our serving tonight. Nothing was easy for the other team."

Ebbonye Johnson and Katy Williams both had a team-high nine kills, with Johnson adding two aces and three blocks, and Williams having four aces and four blocks. Toshana Berry had six kills and played outstanding defense, while Holly Argenbright and Sabra Thomas each contributed six kills and two blocks.

Megan Baxter added five aces, while libero Ashley wilson contributed two kills and seven digs. Ashley Hooten added four digs and played and outstanding defensive game, Coach Lewis said.

In the JV contest, Avery won, 25-23, 25-20.
