Brandon Glosup and Kevin Campball named Academic All-State
From Staff Reports

April 21, 2005 - BIRTHRIGHT - North Hopkins seniors Brandon Glosup and Kevin Campbell were honored for their academic skills in the classroom and were named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' Academic All-State team.

The awards are based on a student's grade point average, class rank, college entrance exam scores and recommendations from both the coach and the school's counselor or principal. To be considered, a senior player must have a cumulative GPA of 92 or above for their high school career and be of "good moral character."

The teams are selected by a point system that awards points for GPA, class rank and SAT or ACT score. The student/athletes are then placed on teams according to the number of points they have earned. The Elite team represents the highest point total that can be achieved.

Glosup was the Panthers starting center for the 19-12 area finalist in Class A for the past season and had a double-double performance in their bi-district overtime win over the Avery Bulldogs with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Campbell, along with Glosup, was a Second Team All-District selection in District 19-A play at the small forward position, and scored a season high 11 points in a win over the Cumby Trojans this season.

Below is a list of other area players who were given academic recognition:

Class 2A

Robert Cooper, Edgewood; Chris Taylor, Quitman; Blane Gipson, Quitman.

Class 4A

Craig Turner, Greenville; Adam Marcum, Greenville; Shane Henderson, Greenville; Joel Skinner, Texas High.
