North Hopkins takes two wins over Avery and Saltillo

April 20, 2005 - After winning their last two games by a combined score of 32-1, the North Hopkins Lady Panthers will face an important rematch with district-leading Rivercrest on Friday.

Friday's game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. in Birthright. The Lady Panthers are 14-8 overall, 7-2 in District 14-A. Rivercrest is unbeaten in the district.

North Hopkins 14, Avery 1

On Friday, the Lady Panthers used a seven-run second inning and a six-run fourth inning to propel them to the win.

Laci Palmer not only threw a two-hitter for North Hopkins, she also had a pair of hits, including a two-run single in the second for their first lead. Ashley Wilson had three hits and scored two runs, while Maegan Baxter and Sara Weir each had two hits. Weir and Katie Williams each scored two runs, while Elizabeth McPherson and Ashley Hooten each hit safely.

North Hopkins had 12 hits total and committed just one error.

North Hopkins 18, Saltillo 0

Baxter led NH's 14-hit attack with three hits and two runs, while Palmer also had three hits and a pair of runs scored. Hooten went 2-for-3 with three runs, while Williams and Weir each had two hits. McPherson had one hit and scored four times.

Palmer gave up one hit while striking out four.

Cassie Canup had Saltillo's only hit, while Chloe Roberts took the loss on the mound.
