Como Pickton golfers finish in fourth place at district meet

April 15, 2005 - COMO - The Como-Pickton boys and girls golf teams completed the District 17-2A tournament at Lake Fork Country Club with the boys team finishing in fourth place this past weekend.

The Eagles shot a 772 during the district meet and were just six strokes behind Caddo Mills, who took third with a 766, while Edgewood won the district title with a 616, followed by Lone Oak with a 691.

C-P was led by Jensen Mabe with an 83 in the final round. He finished the 36-hole tournament in eighth place with a 172, just two strokes from qualifying for the regional tournament.

Other top scorers for the Eagles were Josh Biggerstaff with a 179, Colton Flora with a 211, and Alex Mowat with a 214.

On the girls' side of the bracket, Lone Oak took the district championship with a 918, Edgewood took second with a 997, Alba-Golden finished in third, and Grand Saline wrapped up the tournament in fourth place.

Como-Pickton did not field a team during the event, with Brandy Moore and Megan Neil playing as medalists.

Moore led the way for the Lady Eagles with a 140 in the final round and finished the tournament with a 284 score, while Neil shot a 149 in the final round and finished with a 296 during the two-round tournament.
