North Hopkins stays unbeaten in district
From Staff Reports

Sept. 30, 2004 - FRUITVALE - The North Hopkins Lady Panthers may not have played with the crispness that head coach Danna Lewis was looking for Tuesday night, but they still beat Fruitvale in three games, 25-21, 25-18, 31-29.

With Katy Williams and Ebbonye Johnson providing 10 kills each and Sara Weir adding a team-high 15 points (three aces) and two kills, the Lady Panthers improved to 2-0 in District 19-A and 11-8 overall.

"We didn't play with the intensity that we should have, and I hope to see more intensity in the rest of district play," said Coach Lewis. "We passed and hit the ball well, but our serving just wasn't what it needed to be."

Williams added 12 points (three aces), while Maegan Baxter contributed a team-high 15 assists. Ashley Wilson and Tashone Berry each had 10 digs and five points, while Kate Hollenshead added one kill and Patricia Reed three points.

In JV action, North Hopkins won in two games, 25-13, 25-21, with Jessi Mannis scoring eight points, Megan Lehr six points, and Holly Argenbright recording five kills.

North Hopkins travel to Miller Grove (1-1) on Friday in 19-A action. The JV game kicks off the doubleheader at 5 p.m.
