|Lewis passes Cooper past L-K|

Sept. 11, 2004 - COOPER - The Cooper Bulldogs ran their record to 2-1 for the season with a 26-7 win over the Linden-Kildare Tigers Friday night.
The Bulldogs are open next week and will host Hooks for the district opener Sept. 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Scott Reynolds opened up the scoring for Cooper on a nine-yard pass from Randee Lewis for a 6-0 lead. Tommy Daughtery missed the PAT with 3:12 remaining in the first quarter.
Daniel Nichols caught his fifth touchdown of the season in stride from 55 yards out for Lewis' second touchdown pass of the game. The two-point conversion run was missed by Cooper for a 13-0 lead.
DaWaylon Williams bullied his way in from two-yards out to extend the Bulldogs lead to 19-0. Daughtery nailed the PAT good with 6:25 remaining in the second quarter.
Linden-Kildare scored their only touchdown of the game in the second quarter when LaRodrick Linwood found Allen Tyson from 24-yards out to cut their deficit to 19-7 after Marcell Owens booted the PAT.
Lewis wrapped up the scoring with his third touchdown pass of the game with 4:51 remaining on a six-yard pass to Kyle Thompson. Daughtery nailed the PAT good.
Williams led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 21 carries for 94 yards and one touchdown in the game. Marquis Gunn added 27 yards on seven carries.
Nichols caught seven passes for 110 yards and one touchdown, while Randee Lewis threw for 159 yards on 12-of-16 passing with three touchdowns. He was also picked off once in the game.
Owens was the leading rusher for the Tigers with 16 carries for 42 yards, while Allen Tyson caught three passes for 46 yards in the game.
Linwood finished six-of-15 for 53 yards and one touchdown. He was picked off twice in the game.
