15 Trojans on All-District team

Nov. 29, 2004 - CUMBY - After finishing in third place in District 17-A this season, the Cumby Trojans received 15 selections to the All-District football team.

Senior Rusty Vaughan picked up a first team fullback and second team defensive back selection, while teammate Trent McCraw received a first team center award for his play this season.

Lineman Casey Romans rounded out the first team offensive awards at tackle for the Trojans and also received an honorable mention defensive end selection.

Steven Boss received a first-team special teams award as a punt returner and also picked up an honorable mention award for his play at defensive back.

Other selections for the Trojans this season included: Matt Steward (second team quarterback, second team defensive back), Brandon Brown (second team running back, honorable mention linebacker), Charle Chavez (second team wide receiver, honorable mention linebacker), William Chavez (second team linebacker), Austin "Ace" Caudle (second team defensive tackle, honorable mention offensive lineman), senior Brian Colbert (honorable mention offensive lineman), Dylan Taylor (honorable mention offensive lineman), and Jake Petty (honorable mention at Tight End).

Also, Nick Dyer received an honorable mention offensive selection at wide receiver even after suffering a broken collarbone midway through the season, Justin O'Mara (honorable mention defensive end), and Josh McCord (honorable mention linebacker).

Coach Kent Hawthorne's team went 6-4 during the regular season and had their best finish in three years.
