Wilson's homer sparks North Hopkins

March 29, 2004 -- BIRTHRIGHT -- North Hopkins' Sean Wilson hit an inside-the-park grand slam in the first inning and winning pitcher Roy Warren allowed just two hits as the Panthers beat Avery, 13-2, on Friday.

The Panthers improved to 4-1 in district, 8-6 overall with the win. Avery fell to 3-2, 6-8.

Avery took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Bubba Joe Brewer's solo homer, but the Panthers put up a 6-spot in their half of the inning and seven more times in the second.

Along with Wilson, who had four RBIs and two walks, Josh McPherson went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, Heath Abbott had two hits, two runs and three RBIs, and Steven Crocker went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs batted in. Micah Walker added a hit and two runs.

In throwing the complete game, Warren struck out 10 and walked three while allowing just two hits.
