Weaver pitches, hits Hornets to win
From Staff Reports

March 27, 2004 -- CAMPBELL -- Randy Rainey and James Weaver both had three hits and combined for five RBIs, while Weaver had his best outing of the season on the mound to lead Miller Grove to its first district win of the season with a 13-0 shellacking of Campbell.

Brandon Stunkard went 2-for-4 with three RBI, and Lee Roy Stracener was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs for the Hornets (4-4, 1-2), who scored in each of the first four innings.

MGHS would give Weaver all the support he would need, putting up a five-spot in the first inning, as Stracener reached on an error, Stunkard doubled and Frank Weaver walked to load the bases. James Weaver drove home Stracener and Stunkard, while Rainey, Billy Giles and Michael Simpson all had RBI hits.

James Weaver stranded two baserunners in the first and left the bases loaded in the second. He retired nine straight in the next three innings, eight of the victims via strikeout to finish with a five-inning, one-hit shutout. Weaver walked two and struck out 12.
