Littlefield wins JV tournament
From Staff Reports

March 27, 2004 -- ROCKWALL -- Freshman Kylie Littlefield continued her steady play Monday as she shot a 52 to win the nine-hole JV golf tournament at Buffalo Creek.

Teams scores were not kept in the tournament, but Littlefield was one of three SSHS golfers to place in the top five individually.

Kimberly Buster shot a 57, which placed her third, and Jessica Anderson was fifth with a 59.

Cherish Bolton shot a 61 and Kassie Gregory a 63.

"Kylie's on the verge of playing on varsity anyway because she's consistently around 100 on an 18-hold course," said SSHS head coach Kell Clopton. "She's a freshman, and it was good for her to play well and get some confidence."

He is also pleased with the way the rest of the team played.

"Kimberly and Jessica have gotten better every tournament, and really so has Cherish and Kassie," Clopton said. "They're all improving, and that's the main thing you want from your young golfers."

The JV girls will next play April 1 at the Mount Vernon tournament.

The SSHS varsity team will travel to Waterview Golf Course in Rowlett tomorrow for a 9 a.m. tee time in the tournament.
