March 27, 2004 -- ROSSER -- Liz Melton was 2-for-5 with two runs, a stolen base and four RBIs, while Christy Hunt threw a six-inning three-hitter with six strikeouts, as Como-Pickton remained perfect on the district season with a 13-0 win over Scurry-Rosser Saturday afternoon.
The game had been postponed from Friday so that students could attend the funeral of a C-P classmate, Arturo Murillo, killed in an automobile accident.
Hunt went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, and Taylor Moss was 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and three stolen bases for CPHS (8-2, 4-0) before rolling her ankle in the third inning. Her status for Tuesday's game against Caddo Mills is questionable. Shannon Russell replaced Moss and went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a stolen base.
The Lady Eagles scored five runs in the second inning, as catcher Katheryn Humphrey and Hunt reached on errors, while third baseman Ashley Darby reached on a fielder's choice. All three players stole bases, and CPHS scored five more times in the sixth to pad its lead.
Kellie Harmon, Chelsea Harrison and Kayla Smith all finished 1-for-4. Harmon had three RBIs, while Smith added two stolen bases. Darby and Humphrey scored twice.
