Thomas wins two golds for NH

March 27, 2004 -- GRAND SALINE -- Sophomore Sabra Thomas won a pair of gold medals and freshman Ebbonye Johnson took a pair of second-place finishes and a pair of thirds last Thursday as the North Hopkins Lady Panthers scored 78 points at the Salt Capital Relays.

Thomas, who was fifth at the state cross country meet in October, was a double-winner in the 1,600-meter run (in a time of five minutes, 49 seconds) and the 3,200 (12:40). Also placing in both races was Rosa Fuentes, fourth in the 1,600 (6:06), and third in the 3,200(13:20). Kate Hollenshead was fourth in the metric two-mile race in 13:51.

Johnson placed second in both the 100-meter dash (13.07) and the 400 (63.77), as well as coming in third in the 200 (27.10) and the high jump (5-0).

Also garnering medals were sophomore Katy Williams, second in the shot put at 36-5, and freshman Chancey Harber, third in the long jump at 15-5.

Hollenshead also placed fifth in the 800 at 2 minutes, 40 seconds.
