March 27, 2004 -- Tarra Morton pitched a two-hitter and the JV Blue team scored in every inning in taking a 12-0 win in the opener of Saturday's doubleheader.

Morton struck out 13 batters in five innings and walked none.

At the plate, Kay Lee Cotton had a three-hit game, while Kristen McDonald, Brittany Moore and Jordan Anderson each contributed two singles apiece. The Lady Cats knocked out 13 hits, including singles by Rhyannon Page, Kara Lopez, Katie McCarty and Morton.

Sulphur Springs scored four runs in the first inning, five in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth before the game was called due to the 10-run rule.

The Lady Cats took advantage of their five hits, plus three walks and four Frisco errors to account for their runs in the second game.

Morton led the offensive attack with a double and single. Also with hits were Cotten, Page and Anderson.

On the mound, Cotten gave up just two hits in five innings, striking out eight with no walks.

Notes: The JV Blue's scheduled game against McKinney on Tuesday was canceled by McKinney. The Lady Cats' next game is at Prairiland at 11 a.m. Saturday.
