C-P girls improve to 3-0 in district
From Staff Reports

March 19, 2004 -- COMO -- Christy Hunt threw a complete game, allowing only two runs and striking out seven, while Taylor Moss went 3-for-4 with a triple to lead Como-Pickton to a 9-2 win over Edgewood to remain undefeated in district play.

Hunt was 3-for-3 at the plate, while Katheryn Humphrey, Kellie Harmon and Brittney Wright all went 2-for-4. Wright had an inside-the-park home run. Moss, a switch-hitting shortstop, hit left-handed in the first inning and tripled to left field.

The Lady Eagles (7-2, 3-0 District) started off slow, leaving two runners on base in both the first and second innings before exploding for three runs in the third and putting up another three-spot in the sixth.

Today's game at Scurry-Rosser was rescheduled for noon Saturday. The team will be attending the funeral of fellow student Arturo Murillo, who was killed in an automobile accident Tuesday. His services are scheduled for 1 p.m. today.
