Moss' grand slam leads C-P to win
From Staff Reports

March 18, 2004 -- GRAND SALINE -- Taylor Moss hit a grand slam deep over the center field fence in the second inning, while Christy Hunt threw a complete-game three hitter with four strikeouts and an earned run in a 6-2 win over Grand Saline to improve to 2-0 in district play.

Chelsea Harrison added a bases-clearing triple earlier in the inning that scored Kayla Smith and Shannon Russell, who both reached on singles. Harrison was thrown out at the plate trying to stretch it into an inside-the-park homer, but the inning was far from over.

Ashley Darby singled, Kathryn Humphrey doubled and Liz Melton walked to set up Moss' heroics. Grand Saline scored in the third on an inside-the-park homer after Smith stumbled in a soggy outfield.

The Lady Eagles' district home opener Tuesday was postponed by lightning. The make-up game is set for today.
