|JV girls improve to 6-0|

March 12, 2004 -- The Sulphur Springs junior varsity softball squad improved to 6-0 with a pair of three-run wins last week.
With Hailey Watson pitching 5 2/3 innings of perfect ball before Lindale managed a hit in the sixth, the Lady Cats beat Lindale, 3-0, on Friday.
Watson (4-0) threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks. In the last 21 innings, she has not walked a batter while striking out 21, and has issued free passes to just three batters in 21 innings this season.
Brandi Laine led the Lady Cats at the plate with a double, and RBI, two stolen bases and a run scored in the sixth inning on Christina Patchen's squeeze bunt. Cassie McClendon also had a hit, a walk, a stolen base and scored the first run of the game in the third inning.
Watson, meanwhile, reached on an error and a walk. Her courtesy runner, Whitney Rogers, stole three bases and scored a run.
Coach Eric Buck said excellent defensive plays were turned in by shortstop Tara Gibby, second baseman Ne-Ne Hynson and right fielder Tanna Lampp.
SSHS 5, Frisco 2
On Tuesday, the Lady Cats hammered out seven hits in taking the victory.
Terra Jackson had a pair of hits, two stolen bases and scored two runs, and Kaneisha Johnson also had two hits. Gibby went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run, while Patchen and Lampp each singled and reached on an error.
Lampp took the win by giving up two runs in 4 2/3 innings. She gave up six hits and struck out four while walking none. Watson closed the game.
