Bonham cruises by Miller Grove

March 5, 2004 -- COOPER -- Bonham scored six runs in both the first and third innings and added four more in the fifth to cruise to a 14-0 win over Miller Grove in the championship game of the Cooper Tournament.

James Weaver took the loss for the Hornets, giving up 10 runs and five hits with five walks and three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. Randy Rainey pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and was 1-for-3 at the plate.

Michael Simpson, Ray Sparks and Frank Weaver each went 1-for-2 for MGHS.

COOPER -- The Hornets scored four runs in the first and six in the second, never looking back in a game played Saturday morning.

James Weaver was 4-for-5 with six RBIs and two runs, Lee Roy Stracener was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run while Michael Simpson finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.

Brandon Stunkard got the win for the Hornets, giving up three runs and three hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Randy Rainey threw the final 1/3 inning.

Michael Simpson went 2-for-4 with two runs, and Frank Weaver added a double for MGHS.
