Dixie teams come out on short end of scoreboard

July 23, 2004 - GRAND PRAIRIE--Thursday night was a tough night for both Hopkins County Little League teams at C.P. Waggoner Park in their respective state tournaments.

The 7-8-year-old Braves, coached by Bryan Burney, lost the rematch to Mount Pleasant by the score of 8-7 on a two-run walk-off home run by Mount Pleasant in the final inning of the championship game.

With the loss, the Braves were eliminated from the tournament and finished second out of 96 teams who started in the tournament.

Mount Pleasant defeated Hopkins County 8-7 on Tuesday night in Grand Prairie.

In the 9-10-year-old tournament, the Diamondbacks are playing again tonight after only recording one hit from Blake Chester against Grand Prairie Red's Hunter McCoy in the contest.

The Diamondbacks lost by the score of 3-0 and only had three baserunners the entire game.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at C.P. Waggoner Park.
