Lady Cats hosting Snowball Classic starting today

January 22, 2004 -- Sulphur Springs fans can catch the Lady Cats soccer team up to six times in three days as they host the 2004 Lady Cat Snowball Classic at Coleman Park and Gerald Prim Stadium.

The Lady Cats (2-4) are hosting a 10-team varsity and six-team JV tournament starting today and lasting through Saturday.

The SSHS varsity plays at 2:30 p.m. today against Nacogdoches and at 6 p.m. against district foe North Lamar. Both games are at Gerald Prim Stadium.

They then open Friday's play at 10 a.m. against Kaufman, followed by a 4 p.m. match-up against Palestine. Both games are at Coleman Park Field No. 1.

The top two teams in each pool will play Saturday in bracket play. (See the complete schedule below.)

The JV tournament starts tomorrow morning, with Sulphur Springs junior varsity scheduled to play at 1 p.m. against Nacogdoches and at 3 p.m. vs. Kaufman. One-game playoffs are set for Saturday morning. All games will be at Coleman Park Field No. 6.

The varsity boys, meanwhile, are playing in the Pine Tree Tournament beginning this evening at 8 p.m. when they take on the host team.

Games will continue Friday and Saturday.
