Hornet's Weaver nearly perfect in no-hitter
From Staff Reports

Feb. 27, 2004 -- COOPER -- Miller Grove junior Frank Weaver was one ground ball error away from a perfect game Friday as he struck out 18 batter and threw a no-hitter in a 5-0 win over Cooper in a tournament here.

Miller Grove made an error on the first hitter of the game, but that was the only Bulldog to reach base as Weaver sat down the next 21 consecutive hitters.

Offensively, Weaver went 2-for-3 with a run scored and and RBI. The big bat belonged to Ray Sparks, who smashed a two-run homer in the fourth and had two more RBI in the fifth.

James Weaver and Brandon Stunkard each had two hits and scored a run, and Lee Roy Stracener had a single.
