Feb. 20, 2004 -- Baylor senior Kyle King outdid himself Saturday, running a personal best in the 5,000 meters and the second-fastest time in the country this year.
King, a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, clocked a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 13 minutes, 56.83 seconds in the 5K race (3.1 miles) at the Razorback Invitational at Randal Tyson Track Complex in Fayetteville, Ark.
King set the previous school indoor record in the 5,000 meters last year and qualified last season for both the indoor and outdoor NCAA national championships in the 5K race.
His mark this season trails only Jason Hubbard (running unattached), who ran a 13:54.66.
