NH girls in tournament finals

August 21, 2004 - ROXTON - North Hopkins advanced to the championship match of the Roxton Volleyball Tournament with a pair of victories Friday.

The Lady Panthers, with a record of 3-2, were scheduled to play in the tournament's final game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

They got there by beating Detroit, 25-22, 25-20 in the opening round and Yantis, 25-11, 25-15 in the second round.

Against Detroit, Katy Williams led the team in kills with seven and blocks with six while scoring six points and three aces. Ashley Wilson had a team-high eight points, five aces and 10 digs. Tashona Berry recorded five digs, three points and one kill, Ebbonye Johnson had six kills, Maegan Baxter recorded a team-high 15 assists, and Sara Weir added 2 kills, three points and an ace.

Against Yantis, Wilson led the team in points with 13 and digs with 15, Williams again led the team in kills with eight to go along with five points, and Baxter added 10 assists. Johnson recorded 10 digs and six kills, while Weir had three points and Berry two kills.

In an earlier game, the Lady Panthers, led by coach Danna Lewis, beat Roxton on Tuesday by scores of 25-13, 25-10, 25-22 behind 20 kills from Williams and eight kills from Johnson.
