NH routs LaPoyner in warm-up

April 28, 2004 -- LaRUE -- Mary Casey went 3-for-3, Scarlet Thompson 2-for-2 and Hope Harber added a home run, as North Hopkins shut out La Poyner 14-0 in five innings Friday in a warm-up game.

Hanna Hankins and Ashley Wilson both went 2-for-3, Lindsey Horne tripled and Sara Weir added three hits for the Lady Panthers (13-8, 8-0 District 11-A).

Hankins got the win, pitching the first two innings and allowing two hits, while walking two and striking out one. Megan Baxter, Lacie Palmer and Wilson each threw one inning of scoreless relief.

NHHS flashed the leather in the second inning, as Weir, Wilson and Horne combined for a triple play.

The Lady Panthers play at Harmony in a 5 p.m. start Thursday for their second warm-up game.

Their first-round playoff game against Cumby is scheduled for Tuesday at Como-Pickton.
