|Lady Cats in regular season finale|
|From Staff Reports|
April 23, 2004 -- Even though the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will be playing Paris tonight, the will be Sherman's biggest fans.
Sherman is hosting Denison in tonight's other key 11-4A match-up in two games that could determine playoff seeding.
Sulphur Springs and Denison both go into tonight's games with 6-3 district records. If both teams win or lose, they will have a one-game playoff on Monday for the district's No. 2 seed behind McKinney North (9-0) who is taking on Greenville (0-9).
However, if SSHS and Denison split their games tonight, the winner will be the No. 2 seed and the loser will be No. 3.
The Lady Cats will be trying to beat Paris (2-7) with a line-up that had to be altered after third baseman Melissa McSheffery strained her left quad muscle in Tuesday's game against McKinney North.
SSHS coach John McCullough will likely move Whitney Gideon from left field to third base, put normal right fielder Crystal Smitherman in left, shift second baseman Casey Carper to right field (where she played last season), and insert Ne Ne Hynson into the starting second base spot.
Hollie Watson (11-3-1) will take the mound for the Lady Cats in the 7 p.m. contest. Paris is expected to start freshman Ashley Zachary.
