From Staff Reports

April 17, 2004 -- CUMBY -- Miller Grove's Frank Weaver struck out 15 Cumby batters on Friday, just three days after pitching a no-hitter, and his brother James Weaver hit a solo homerun to help lead the Hornets to a 6-5 victory.

Miller Grove improved to 4-4 in District 14-1A play behind the Weaver brothers. Frank went all seven innings, walking four and giving up six hits. Combined with his Tuesday outing, he struck out 31 batters this week.

James went 2-for-3 with a solo homerun in the first and a two-run double in the Hornets' three-run sixth inning that turned a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 advantage. Lee Roy Stracener also went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.

Miller Grove had six extra-base hits as Randy Rainey doubled and Brandon Stunkard tripled and drove in a run. Michael Simpson and Billy Giles also singled.
