C-P's Hunt throws one-hitter

April 14, 2004 -- COMO -- Christy Hunt threw a complete game one-hitter with eight strikeouts, while Taylor Moss had three hits, three runs and two stolen bases to lead Como-Pickton to an 11-1, six-inning win over Scurry-Rosser.

The Lady Eagles (12-5, 8-3 District 14-2A) got back to their winning ways, but trailed 1-0 in the third inning. Moss led off with a single, advanced to second on Elizabeth Melton's grounder and stole third. Kelli Harmon drove in Moss with a sacrifice fly to left to tie the game 1-1.

Darby had an infield hit in the fourth, reached third on an error and scored the deciding run on a Kathryn Humphrey sacrifice fly. Hunt walked, stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball. Chelsea Harrison walked, and Moss drove home Hunt with an RBI single. Harmon singled, advanced to third on an error and scored on Brittney Wright's infield hit. The Lady Wildcat catcher threw the ball into the right-field corner trying to pickoff Wright, and the CPHS center fielder scored all the way from first for a 9-1 cushion.

Moss got her third hit of the night in the sixth, Melton reached on an error, and Harmon drove them home with a double to deep left field that ended the game.

SRHS took an early 1-0 lead in the first, as two batters reached on errors.

Melton added a double for the Lady Eagles, Wright had three stolen bases and Harmon had four RBIs.

CPHS will play its final district road game of the season in a battle for second place Saturday at Caddo Mills, who beat the Lady Eagles 1-0 in their earlier meeting March 23 in Como but lost a doubleheader Tuesday to Alba-Golden. Game time was moved to 10 a.m. due to the district track meet.
