NH girls rout JB to stay perfect in district

April 10, 2004 -- BIRTHRIGHT -- The North Hopkins girls stayed perfect in district play Friday with an 11-0 rout of James Bowie.

Lacie Palmer struck out seven and walked none while throwing a three-hit shutout. She has aided in the field by first baseman Lindsey Horne, who had six putouts.

At the plate, Mary Casey's textbook bunt in the second inning drove home the first run of the game. Casey went 2-for-2. Ashley Wilson, Megan Baxter and Sara Weir all had three hits in the contest, while Hope Harber, Horne, Hanna Hankins and Scarlet Thompson each had a pair of hits.

Overall, the Lady Panthers pounded out 18 hits and took advantage of three James Bowie errors.

Kasidy Huddleston threw a one-hit shutout for the Lady Trojans last week as they improved their record to 5-3 overall, 3-1 in district play.

Huddleston also went 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Her older sister, Katy, also went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in. Kacie Wade had a 3-for-4 game with a double, RBI and three runs scored, and Megan Strickland added two hits and an RBI.

The Lady Trojans trail Bland (4-0) by one game, with Campbell at 2-2.
