C-P girls shut out Lone Oak

April 7, 2004 -- COMO -- Kellie Harmon hit two home runs and drove in four, while Christy Hunt allowed only two hits and struck out nine, as Como-Pickton shut out Lone Oak 8-0.

Ashley Darby was 2-for-3 with a double and three stolen bases, Taylor Moss was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two steals while Chelsea Harrison was 1-for-3 with three thefts.

Hunt (9-4) got back to her winning ways after Friday's loss to Grand Saline, while the Lady Eagles (11-4, 7-2 District 14-2A) scored all they would need in the first inning.

Moss, who started at catcher, doubled and scored on Harmon's shot over the center field fence. Darby singled in the second, stole second and third and scored on a passed ball.

Moss led of the third with a single, stole second and third and scored on Harmon's second homer, this time over the left-center field fence. Harrison reached on an error, stole second and third and scored on a passed ball.

Harmon reached on a fielder's choice in the fifth and scored on another passed ball. Elizabeth Melton added an RBI double for CPHS, and Brittney Wright was 1-for-4, as the Lady Eagles shut out Lone Oak for the second time this season. CPHS travels to Edgewood for a 4:30 p.m. start Thursday in a game that was moved up due to school being out on Good Friday.
