April 6, 2004 -- DENISON - The Sulphur Springs junior varsity softball team shut out both Paris and Denison to capture the District 11-4A Tournament over the weekend.
The Lady Wildcats took a 6-0 win over Denison in the tournament finals, as Ne Ne Hynson had two hits, two runs and three RBIs, and Tara Gibby added a double and a run.
Hailey Watson drove in a pair of runs with two singles and a sacrifice fly, Brandi Laine added a double and a stolen base, Terra Jackson singled and scored twice, and Christina Patchen walked and scored.
Tanna Lampp (15-1) pitched all six innings, allowing only five hits and striking out three.

Hynson had two triples and a run, while Laine and Cassie McClendon each had two hits, an RBI and a run in a 7-0 win over Paris in the tournament opener.
Betsy Blount doubled, walked and scored, Kaneisha Johnson and Jackson each singled and scored, while Gibby had two singles and an RBI and Patchen added a single and sacrifice bunt.
Lampp allowed only two hits in five innings with three strikeouts. Watson struck out one in the final inning.

"The girls played outstanding defense and hit the ball very well against quality pitching," coach Eric Buck said of their tournament play. "We received great contributions from each player on the team."
The Lady Cats (19-3-1) have allowed just one unearned run in six games against district opponents, and have outscored their opponents this season 173-35 (11 earned runs) in 23 games.
Their final game of the season is at 5 p.m. today against Paris.
