Sept. 25, 2008 - Live entertainment, a catered Mexican meal, live and silent auction and games - the Sulphur Bluff Foundation Scholarship Dinner and Auction offers all of that plus a great opportunity to fellowship with other former classmates while helping provide students with an opportunity to seek a higher education.
This year's Dinner And Auction will be held this Saturday in the new school gymnasium, and there's still room for others interested in supporting Sulphur Bluff Foundation. Event organizers say the $15 tickets are still available either by calling or stopping by the school office, or can even be purchased at the door Saturday night.
"This goes to the scholarship fund each year, usually we give out about $10,000 worth of scholarships. It helps a good cause -- raising money for the kiddoes out here," said Tressie South, foundation committee member.
The meal, catered by El Chico, includes beef and chicken fajitas with fixings, and there will be singing and music by Bo Potts. There's enough room and food to seat and feed 350 people.
"So far we've only had 260 tickets [bought], so we still have plenty. We could use the extra support," South said.
The live and silent auctions will feature items donated by area businesses and individuals, including items donated by a state dignitary.
Those attending should be sure to get a ticket so their name is in the pot for a chance to win $100, which will be drawn at the end of the night.
There will also be plenty of fun games with prizes. The big prize will be awarded from a game in which individuals purchase tickets for chances to win a flat screen TV.
