Cumby High School is gearing up for a week's worth of homecoming activities, and event planners are encouraging all school alumni who are able to show their support of the school and football team by taking part in the festivities.
The homecoming revelry will begin Tuesday, Sept. 16, with a poster party at Cumby City Park from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The fun continues Wednesday, Sept. 17, with a homecoming parade and bonfire. The parade begins at 8 p.m. at I-30 Fastmart and will wind its way around to the bonfire site, located across from the Cumby football field.
To get revved up for Friday's activities, the Cumby Junior High and Junior Varsity football teams will travel to Simms where they will battle the Simms-Bowie Pirates Thursday evening.
Cumby's homecoming festivities will kick into high gear Friday, Sept. 19, with a tailgate party from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. and nominations for the Cumby Homecoming King and Queen at 6:30 p.m. The Cumby game versus the Simms-Bowie Pirates will follow the homecoming activities, roughly at 7:30 p.m. according to the school calendar.
A homecoming dance for Cumby students will follow the game in the Cumby cafetorium. Tickets will be $3 per student or $5 a couple.
