Weather conditions look near-perfect for Thursday kickoff

From Staff Reports

Sept. 10, 2008 - Hurricane Ike is plodding toward the Texas coast, but fallout from the Gulf storm won't affect Thursday night's game at Gerald Prim Stadium.

In fact, weather conditions look to be near perfect for the 8 p.m. start of the clash between the Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Wichita Falls Rider Raiders. While rain was forecast in the area through late afternoon today, the precipitation was set to take a couple of days off on Thursday and Friday.

And the temperatures at kickoff time should be pleasant. With mostly cloudy skies blocking the sun and a high of 90 degrees forecast for Thursday, the thermometer should be in the upper 70s to lower 80s at game time. Wind should not be a factor for the Wildcats' explosive air attack, either, with east-southeast winds of 5 to 10 miles per hour in the local forecast for Thursday night.
