Sept. 10, 2008 - Good luck finding a hotel room in Sulphur Springs for Thursday night. There aren't many available.
Between the ESPN2 telecast, a bass fishing tournament at Lake Fork and evacuees fleeing yet another Gulf of Mexico hurricane, hotels in town are booking at near 100 percent occupancy rate.
A Quality Inn representative said there was nothing available for Thursday.
"We're totally sold out," she said. "We have nothing for Thursday."
Comfort Suites is running a special rate for visitors who are in town for the ESPN2 telecast and have just three suites remaining.
"At this point," a booking agent said, "we are mostly occupied."
Holiday Inn Express is "pretty much totally booked," a representative said, with people coming in for the game, the fishing tournament and to get away from the hurricane.
A Best Western representative, meanwhile, said the hotel has booked about a dozen rooms for the game, and most of the rest of the hotel will be occupied by fishermen.
