Second person jailed in FM 2653 theft

Sept. 9, 2008 - A second person has been jailed in connection with a burglary at an FM 2653 tack barn which resulted in loss of more than $7,500 worht of riding equipment.
John Darrell Green, 37, of Klondike was jailed at 4 p.m. Monday by Sherrif's Investigator Jace Anglin on the burglary of a building warrant. He remained in jail Tuesday morning in lieu of bond on the state jail felony offense. Everette Eugene Blakley, 35, of Greenville was arrested Friday in connection with the burglary. He too remained in jail Tuesday in lieu of bond on the burglary of a building charge.
The burglary reportedly occurred south of Brashear between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday. A $5,000 Todd Sloan Trophy saddle, a $1,500 Running R roping saddle, two breast collars valued at $1,000, wool blankets made by Air Ride and bits were reported to sheriff's deputies as stolen Thursday morning.
The burglary is only one in a rash of burglaries reported county-wide in the last week. At this point, officials have found no evidence connecting Blakley or Green to any of the other burglaries, but officials noted that the investigation into that case as well as the many other unsolved burglary cases is still ongoing at this time.
Thefts were reported at three different location, on FM 1536 Friday. A $5,450 welder, an $850 trailer, two acetleyne and oxygen bottles valued at $1,000 and $1,600 worth hand tools were reported to have been stolen from a trailer between 10 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. Friday at one location. At a second location, a $50 welding helmet was stolen between 11 p.m. Thursday and 12 p.m. Friday. In a third report, a $100 chain saw was reported stolen from a shop sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 5.
At least two other properties in Northeast Hopkins County were also broken into Thursday. From County Road 3669, a $120 weed trimmer, a $100 chain saw, $150 roll of wire, an $85 circular saw, $250 worth of hand tools and a $120 chain saw were reported to have been stolen from a building. A cutting torch bottle and two chain saws were reported to have been stolen from a residence and shop on FM 69 between Thursday and Friday.
