Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce President Meredith Caddell does a spot of clean-up duty at the new Chamber offices located at 300 Connally St., on the southwest corner of Connally and Davis streets. The move was made in part to put the offices in the downtown area, where most people visiting from out-of-town expect to find a visitors' center, but it's also a more central location for Hopkins County residents. "This is where the Chamber needs to be," Caddell says.

The Chamber Connection: Chamber of Commerce moves into new office

MEREDITH CADDELL, Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce President

Oct. 30, 2008 - Well, Monday morning, we officially moved our office to 300 Connally St. I must admit, even though I have only been the president of the Chamber for a few months, I felt a little nostalgic as we were leaving 1200 Houston St. Many happy memories were created in that building, as well as many great decisions for Hopkins County. Fortunately, the Hopkins County Extension Agents will soon be working out there, and I'm sure great memories and decisions will continue in that building.

I am going to miss all of the folks at the Civic Center, and I would like to say "Thank You" to Pansy, Dottie, Curtis, Angel, Jerry, Gayle, Otis and all of the others who were always willing to help us out when we needed something. This county is very lucky to have such a tremendous staff at our Regional Civic Center.

The same goes for the Southwest Dairy Center and Museumwe were so blessed to have such great neighbors. Don't think we won't be stopping by for some ice cream, and soon! Carolyn, thank you for always opening the museum to the Chamber whenever we needed it.

Now, the GREAT news is that we are DOWNTOWN! I can guarantee that many happy memories will be made here as well as GREAT decisions for this county! We have already had a tremendous reception from everyone in the downtown area. It has been so nice having people stop in to say "Hi" and check out the new office. If you haven't stopped by yet, we are still trying to get everything unpacked, but we would love for you to pop in. Everyone who has stopped by so far has been pleasantly surprised and has commented that it is beautiful and much bigger than what they thought. As I mentioned last week, as soon as everything is in its place, we will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting so that everyone may stop by and check out the new Chamber of Commerce.

FYI: our mailing address will still be P.O. Box 347, but our new physical address is 300 Connally St. Our phone, fax and e-mails remain the same.

Opportunity for Next Week -- Ribbon Cutting!

We will be celebrating the grand opening of Hemby & Hargrave Custom Home Accents, 616 North Hillcrest Drive, with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m. Please stop by on your way home from work and welcome Hemby & Hargrave to our community.

We are currently working on our 2009 Buyer's Guide, which is a listing of all Chamber of Commerce members by name and by category. This guide is distributed to all members and is also mailed out to everyone who asks for information on our county. Each year we distribute over 4,000 Buyer's Guides. If you are a current chamber member and have had any changes in your organization, i.e. contacts, phone, fax, e-mail, etc., please notify us so that we can make the changes for the new guide. If you are not a Chamber of Commerce memberm but would like to become part of the Chamber, we will certainly welcome you and get you set up for the new Buyer's Guide -- just give us a call.

Meredith's thoughts

I may have had a brief moment of sadness as we left the old building -- until I drove up to our new building on Connally Street, where I was overcome with JOY! This is such a great move for the Chamber of Commerce, and I am so thankful to be part of it. In my mind, I have HUGE plans for the Chamber and Hopkins County, and this move was just the beginning> Stop by and see us!

That's all for nowhave a GREAT week!
