Country artist Gosdin cancels appearance due to medical reasons

Oct. 12, 2008 - Country music artist Vern Gosdin, who was scheduled to perform at a concert tonight at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, will not be making the trip to Sulphur Springs,
Gosdin, who had a consistent string of top 10 hits in the 1980s and was voted the Country Music Association's "Artist of the Year" in 1983, was scheduled to perform during the "Sulphur Springs Country Jamboree presenting Steve Oliver, Vern Gosdin and friends."
A press release sent out Friday night from VGM/Tangent Nashville in Tennessee, however, said Gosdin had to bow out of the show.
"It was announced tonight that Vern Gosdin will not be performing at the Hopkins County Civic Center on October 11, 2008," the release stated. "The legendary singer songwriter has been instructed to rest due to medical concerns."
Tickets for the concert are $22 at the door. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
