Amanda Sims, Lacey Roberts top graduates at Miller Grove

May 29, 2008 - Amanda Sims has been named valedictorian and Lacey Roberts salutatorian of the 2008 graduating class of Miller Grove High School.
Sims is the daughter of Amy and Ken Sharp and Ronald and Mercy Sims, all of the Bonanza community.
She served as president of the Miller Grove FFA Chapter and has been an FFA officer all four years of her high school career. She served as a class officer, as well.
The valedictorian competed in University Interscholastic League academic contests and was an active participant in One Act Play. She also has received numerous achievement awards during high school.
Sims also participated in both basketball and volleyball for three years.
She recently was awarded a Northeast Texas Livestock Association scholarship, which she can use to help achieve her plans to become a dental hygienist.
Salutatorian Lacey Roberts is the daughter of Avis Roberts of Brashear.
She, too, has earned various achievement awards during her high school career, and served as a class officer and and FFA officer.
Roberts also ran track and cross country for four years.
During her high school years, she notes drama class and One Act Play competition to be among the activities she has participated in. In fact, Roberts plans to continue developing her thespian skills and become a professional actress.
She currently is an employee of Brookshire's in Emory.
Sims and Roberts will be honored along with the other members of their class during graduation ceremonies which begin at 7 p.m. Friday, May 30, in the new school gym. Graduation for junior high students will be held tonight in the school gym.
